Jane Hollis Poovey is a current senior at Decatur High School. She is excited to represent Decatur High School as their Carnegie Carnival Princess Nominee. Jane Hollis is a Varsity Cheerleader, Student Council President, National Honor Society Secretary, and an active member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, and the Renaissance Team. She also attended the Alabama Youth Leadership Development Program. Outside of school, she works at Cheerville Athletics in Athens, AL, as a tumbling instructor and a cheerleading coach as well as working at Leon Sheffield Magnet School and volunteering for many activities around the community. Jane Hollis has been playing the piano for twelve years. After high school, she plans on attending the University of Alabama, where she will major in Collaborative Elementary Education and minor in Spanish. Miss Poovey is running for Princess because she thinks it is a great way to get more involved in a community that she loves so much already and raise money for an organization that she has been involved in for a majority of my life. She is honored to have been nominated for this position and hopes to represent DHS and the city of Decatur well.
