Michael was born in Decatur, Alabama, and has recently returned home after living in Nashville, Tennessee for the last 25 years. Having two major passions, Art and Massage Therapy, he has created a space for both under one roof where he offers his customer a brief escape from the outside world and a time for inner focus.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Athens State University, attended John C. Calhoun Community College, and holds certification from the Institute of Therapeutic Massage & Movement of Nashville. He has worked in the Professional Massage Therapy industry for 17 years and is licensed in Alabama and Tennessee and nationally certified. With years of experience in varied therapy modalities including Swedish Relaxation, Myofascial, Neuromuscular, Reflexology, Thai Yoga, Lymphatic Drainage, and CranioSacral, he provides a personalized approach for each client.
As a seasoned, self-taught visual artist, he has painted and created works of art since early childhood hosted numerous art events in the south, and is eager to support other artists’ endeavors. Centered on mixed media artwork, Michael combines paint, wood, and found objects into inwardly-focused masked characters and thoughtful, sometimes random, subjects to create uniquely original works infused with color and movement.
Michael is proud to be a member of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center and decided to run for King of the Carnegie because he truly desires to see art continually expressed in Decatur. Art improves well-being, unifies communities, gives voice to those that feel they don’t have one, enhances life at any age, and is vital to our humanity.
